Drs. Kathleen Boothe and Andrea Hathcote

Dr. Kathleen Boothe has served the special education community in several capacities. She has been a classroom paraprofessional and teacher for students with emotional and behavioral disorders, as well as a district level behavior specialist. She is currently an Associate Professor of Special Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SE). Dr. Boothe is currently an active member of the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Teacher Education Division and presents at their yearly conference. She is also the Vice President of Oklahoma Council for Exceptional Children.  Her research focuses on improving educator preparation programs, especially as it relates to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and classroom/behavior management.

Dr. Andrea Hathcote spent most of her career serving at-risk individuals. Her educational background is in Special Education where she specialized in working with students who have emotional and behavioral challenges. Dr. Hathcote has been a classroom teacher, school administrator, CASA advocate, professor, and Coordinator of TRIO SSS at Tyler Junior College, a federally funded grant program focused on reducing barriers for students who are first generation, low income, and students with disabilities. She is currently a Professor of Learning Framework at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. She is an active member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association. Her current research interests include providing undergraduate research opportunities in Honors first year experience courses.
