Call for Editors
The Publications Committee of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) has opened nominations for the editorship of TEACHING Exceptional Children (TEC).
CEC values equity, diversity, and inclusion and encourages the application of members of all groups, including women, people of color, LGBTQ+, and those with disabilities, as well as candidates across all stages of their careers. Both self-nominations or/and nominations from the field are encouraged. Nominations can be for a solo editor, co-editors, editor and associate editor(s), or other configurations.

We invite nominations of candidates who are:
- nationally or internationally recognized for reputation of contributions to the field in an area related to content published in TEC
- current or former associate editors, special issue editors, reviewers for multiple journals with closely related missions, and/or frequent contributors to journals with closely related missions
- able to provide a vision for the future of the journal with an understanding of its history and complexity across disciplinary, methodological, content, and representational diversity
- skilled at supporting needs of practitioners and those in training, teacher educators, family members, and other stakeholders who read the journal
- capable of providing inclusive leadership for a diverse group of editorial board members (and potential associate editors) with expertise in a wide range of fields and content areas
- employed in a work context that provides support and recognition for editorial work
- engaged in activities within CEC and are or are willing to become an active member of the organization
- known for having excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others
- ready to work collaboratively with the CEC Publications Committee to begin receiving manuscripts around April 2023
Interested parties should prepare a one page, or less, statement in support of the nominee(s). The statement along with nominee CVs should be emailed to Annie Drinkard, Director of Communications and Publications of CEC. When sending the materials, please include “Nomination for TEC 2023” in the subject line.
The deadline for accepting nominations is August 31, 2022, after which vetting will begin. The Publications Committee will invite the selected candidate(s) to apply no later than September 15, 2022. The complete application from those who are invited to apply will be due on January 15, 2023.
