Kevin Monnin, M.Ed., is a Ph.D. student in the OSEP-funded Policy and Research-Intensive Special Educators (PRISE) doctoral training program at George Mason University. Kevin’s current research is focused on federal, state, and local education policy and its impact on attracting, preparing, and retaining high-quality special educators.
Jamie Day, M.Ed., is a Ph.D. student at George Mason University studying special education. Jamie’s specific research interests include teacher labor market trends, state-level policy solutions to the special education teacher shortage, and the impact of educational inequities on English Learners with disabilities. In addition to her work as a researcher, Jamie currently serves in the K-12 setting as an English Learner lead teacher at a public school in Virginia.
Morgan Strimel, M.Ed., is a Ph.D. student in the OSEP-funded Policy and Research-Intensive Special Educators (PRISE) doctoral training program at George Mason University. Morgan’s current research is focused on improving access to post-secondary education for college students with disabilities. Specifically, she is studying the application of qualitative research principles to the role of the higher education disability services professional in determining accommodations for students with disabilities.
Kasey Dye, M.Ed., is a Ph.D. student at Virginia Commonwealth University studying special education. Her research interests include teacher burnout and special education teachers’ relationships with their colleagues and administrators. Kasey previously served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in China and worked as a special education teacher in Virginia.
