The purpose of this resource is to help special education teachers organize their caseload of students at the beginning of the school year. The template provides areas for teachers to document the IEP dates, RR dates, placement information, parent contact information, etc., and can be modified based on the teacher's needs and preferences. This template provides the special education teacher with easy-to-access information about their entire caseload in 1 document. The document also comes with a cover letter to distribute to general education teachers and special area teachers (music, art, physical education, etc.) at the beginning of the school year.

This form could be used for faculty instructing pre-service teachers and newly certified teachers how to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and conduct meetings with families, administrators, regular education teachers, and related service providers. Having pre-service teachers and newly certified teachers host mock IEP meetings with peers and offer feedback can be an excellent exercise to increase communication skills and professionalism.

This resource is to be used by administration who attend IEP meetings. This could also be used by special education teachers, general education teachers, and/or related service providers to keep track of communication and outcomes of IEP meetings. It is recommended to start a binder or shared group folder so that all administration has access. Forms should be organized alphabetically so that all parties are on the same page regarding IEP meetings and students. This resource can be changed to meet the needs of different grade levels. The Considerations for Special Education Program Change Protocol was developed by the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District's Special Education Advisory Committee, un-der the leadership of Dr. Wolcott and in collaboration with Genesee Valley BOCES' Office of School Improvement. It was designed to lead educators through questions and activities in order to make sound recommendations for students with disabilities possibly in need of a more restrictive program and/or ready for a less restrictive program.
