Mental health needs often become evident as children with disabilities develop into adolescents, resulting in greater academic struggles, social interaction and relationship challenges, and a need for increased support. However, educators often feel unprepared to support the mental wellness of adolescents with disabilities in school settings. In this manuscript we provide goal-setting strategies educators can use to support adolescents with disabilities who also have mental health needs (D/MH). Specifically, we describe how goal-setting may serve as an approach to support mental wellness and provide suggestions for implementation.
