Parents have a significant impact on their child’s development. Parent coaching has shown to be effective to increase parent’s knowledge of their child’s language development, enhance their ability to teach their child language and social communication skills, and reduce parent stress. Despite such favorable outcomes, practitioners may experience low attendance and low parent engagement when implementing parent coaching. Building collaborative relationships with parents when delivering parent coaching can improve attendance and engagement. This paper presents a checklist that outlines strategies that are essential to forming collaborative relationships with parents before, during, and after parent coaching to teach parent-mediated interventions.
