CEC's strength relies on its members. This is your opportunity to play a part in our international community of professionals dedicated to the success and well-being of children and youth with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. Help shape the future of CEC by participating in our board election.
How to Vote
The election to fill three positions on the Board of Directors will open on October 1st and close at 11:59 pm ET, October 21st. You will be able to rank all candidates. Elected members will serve one four-year term, beginning January 1, 2026.
Paper ballots will be mailed to members without an email address on file as of Sept. 1. All members with an email on file as of Sept. 15 will be sent an email via SurveyMonkey with a unique link to vote. If you do not receive an email by Oct. 2, please check your spam folder.
A downloadable ballot will be posted on this page once the election opens, which can be completed and emailed to Sharon Rodriguez.

Precios is a passionate leader in public education with more than 20 years of experience advancing equity, inclusion, and student success. As a director, professor, and active state leader, she brings both systems-level expertise and a heartfelt commitment to creating learning environments where every student can thrive.
Theresa Copple, M.Ed., Deaf and Hard of Hearing Itinerant Teacher, Riverside County Office of Education, Riverside, CA, USA
Theresa brings 36 years of experience in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, spanning roles from interpreter to teacher to national advocate, with a career defined by access, advocacy, and achievement for every learner. Honored as CEC’s 2024 Teacher of the Year, she combines deep classroom experience with proven leadership, making her a passionate candidate for the board of directors.
Wendy Gonzales, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Special Education, Northeastern Illinois University, Berwyn, IL, USA
Wendy brings over 20 years of experience as a bilingual special educator, scholar, and advocate dedicated to advancing equity for multilingual learners and students with disabilities. A longtime leader within CEC, she is passionate about fostering pathways for emerging professionals, just as CEC helped shape her own journey from a new Ph.D. student to a national leader.
Donovan Griffin-Blake, Ed.D., Science Education Coordinator, Bowie State University, Department of Natural Sciences, Bowie, MD, USA
Donovan Griffin-Blake is a lifelong advocate for equity and inclusion with over 26 years of experience as a special education leader, drawing on both her professional expertise and her perspective as a parent of a daughter with a disability. Recognized nationally for her impact, she has led at local, state, and federal levels to empower families, strengthen schools, and create meaningful opportunities for students with disabilities.
Jason Miller, Ph.D., Coordinator of Compliance, Special Education, Baltimore County Public Schools, Glen Burnie, MD, USA
Jason is a proven leader in special education, currently guiding compliance, transition, and post-secondary programming for Baltimore County Public Schools while also supporting families and educators in navigating the IEP process.
