IES Introduces Operation Reverse the Loss
Last week, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) introduced Operation Reverse the Loss, a three-year initiative to improve the tactics IES uses to identify and evaluate the effectiveness of educational intervention methods for at-risk students.
This plan is being developed in response to the inequities worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, with hopes to create a more entrepreneurial education research infrastructure, specifically for early learners, English language learners, community college students, and students with disabilities. The three components are: understand conditions on the ground, encourage small businesses to innovate learning solutions, and grow the body of research with the greatest potential to reverse learning loss.
Through a blog post outlining Operation Reverse the Loss, Director of IES Mark Schneider is soliciting reactions and recommendations to develop and implement the plan.
