Educators Took Action at CEC’s 2026 Convention & Expo

Notes pinned to a board on why people choose to advocate for special education

At CEC’s 2026 Convention and Expo, attendees had the opportunity to learn about the key issues impacting special education and take meaningful action. The Advocacy Action Station in the Expo Hall was equipped with resources about CEC’s advocacy initiatives, access to the CEC Legislative Action Center, attendees were able to advance inclusive education for all students.

Attendees had the opportunity to share the reasons why they advocate. Responses included:

  • “I want to show up for others the way I would like to.”

  • “Because every child deserves to feel loved and have a safe learning environment.”

  • “I have a disability. If it wasn’t for the wonderful people in my life advocating for me, I would not be where I am today.”

  • “Because of the teachers who advocated for me.”

  • “So others are heard.”

  • “Because it MATTERS”

  • “To give my students a voice.”
