Education Department’s Transition to Postsecondary Education and Employment Guide Updated
This month, the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) within the U.S. Department of Education updated the resource, A Transition Guide to Postsecondary Education and Employment for Students and Youth with Disabilities.
The transition guide focuses on four topic areas:
- Transition planning: opportunities and programs
- Transition services and requirements, as authorized by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Rehabilitation Act
- Education and employment options for students and youth with disabilities after leaving secondary school
- Supporting the decisions made by students and youth with disabilities
New additions to the guide include information about dual enrollment and the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act.
