Presenters will describe evidence-based approaches for (a) fostering student independence within a 'gradual release of responsibility' model of reading instruction and (b) integrating self-regulation supports within reading interventions for students with reading disabilities in elementary and middle grades. Attendees will receive information and resources that they can implement in their schools immediately.

Participants will be able to:

  • Learn how to foster student independent, correct responses within a gradual release of responsibility model of reading instruction.
  • Learn about self-regulation strategies that are associated with positive effects on student reading outcomes.
  • Understand how to integrate self-regulation strategies into reading instruction, for both elementary-grade and middle-grade students.
