Call for Applications for Workgroups
CEC is seeking members for the following two workgroups. Work will be conducted virtually, and their work is completed within one year. We would like to have members appointed by the end of February. Interested individuals must outline their relevant experience and indicate whether or not they are interested in serving as a co-chair. A CV/résumé is optional. CEC membership is required. Family Partnerships Workgroup Charge
- Identify what resources and opportunities CEC currently provides members on how to effectively engage all families in (a) schools and (b) research practices. Determine gaps and/or potential areas for improvement.
- Identify what resources and opportunities CEC currently provides families to support their child/youth with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. Determine gaps and/or potential areas for improvement.
- Explore how CEC can assist members to better engage with families in policy work.
Building Level Administrators Workgroup Charge
Identify topics for resources and other support to provide to building level administrators working within special education.
Based on CEC’s 2019 State of the Profession Survey, there is a need to better engage with and support principals who are working with special education teachers. Teachers overwhelmingly share that they need administrators who support their professional efforts. There are specific needs that building level administrators have versus administrators of special education departments that may not be covered by CEC or CASE.
