Theoretical and Methodological Diversity of Exceptional Children Scholarship

To reiterate what we introduced in our first two editorial introductions, our vision for Exceptional Children (EC) over the next 4 years is to ensure equitable educational access, participation, and outcomes for children and youth with disabilities by expanding educators’ capacities to provide robust, effective opportunities to learn for all students, with an emphasis on students with disabilities. Our vision is directly aligned with the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC's) mission of cultivating, supporting, and empowering education professionals who work with individuals with disabilities. Although all of our editorial activities are meant to support this mission, we begin this issue by discussing two of our goals in particular because of their relevance to the collection of articles published in this issue: (a) cultivating inclusiveness and diversity in the publication process and (b) expanding the theoretical and methodological diversity of scholarship published in EC.
