Let’s Collaborate! Strategies to Improve Inclusion of Students With Extensive Support Needs

When teachers are experiencing exhaustion and burnout, one of the contributing factors to their feelings is a lack of positive collaborative relationships within their school (Holmström et al., 2023). What makes working with adults so challenging? Successful collaboration takes intention, resources, and a great deal of skill. Effective collaborators are not just gifted with innate “soft skills,” such as active listening and being a team player. They also recognize the array of strategies that are necessary, and they intentionally plan for successful teaming, strong communication, and managing conflict.
