In this second issue under our tenure as editors of Exceptional Children (EC), we continue to impart our vision in appreciation of its rich legacy as the flagship journal of the Council for Exceptional Children. We shared in our last issue the editorial goals that will set our course over the next 4 years. Informed by previous EC scholarship and the editors’ experiences and commitments, these goals are to (a) situate special education as a civil rights issue, (b) cultivate increased diversity and inclusiveness in the publication process, (c) expand theoretical and methodological diversity, and (d) attend to the intersections of students’ identities. Here, we connect these goals to our perspective on critical issues and trends affecting special education and invite related scholarly works for publication in Exceptional Children.
