Ingredients for Data-Driven Decision Making
Presented by: Dr. Miriam Ortiz and Dr. Elizabeth Hughes

Drs. Ortiz and Hughes will provide an overview of all things data. They will discuss how to select assessments and use data effectively to support student learning. Information shared will be applicable across grade levels and content areas and lend itself to breakout sessions.

Breakout sessions offer opportunities for attendees to talk with experts on topics most relevant to classroom implementation of your choosing. Sessions include topics such as error analysis and curriculum-based measures for making formative decisions in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Intensifying Instruction
Presented by: Dr. Sarah King

Dr. King will discuss how to intensify instruction (e.g., optimizing group size, frequency & duration, dosage, specificity, etc.) and effectively develop specially designed instruction.

After Dr. King’s session, attendees will join a breakout session of their choosing. Session topics include phonemic awareness activities, math word problem instruction, intensifying math language, vocabulary, and discourse; opportunities to respond, vocabulary instruction, and multi-syllabic word instruction.

Progress Monitoring (and Compliance)
Presented by: Dr. David Bateman

Dr. Bateman will discuss the importance of internally consistent IEPs and their role in progress monitoring and compliance in special education.

Breakout sessions will help participants move from data collection to instructional action by connecting SMART IEP math goal development, task analysis, progress-monitoring practices, behavior data, and student work analysis to more responsive classroom decision-making.

Collaborating for Success
Presented by: Dr. Breda O'Keeffe

Dr. O’Keeffe will address questions such as how to supervise paraeducators in intensifying instruction. What does data-driven decision-making and intensifying instruction look like in co-taught classrooms? How do I leverage technology for intensifying instruction? How can I improve my collaboration with families?

Breakout sessions will include how to leverage paraprofessionals during reading instruction, co-teaching collaboration, and increasing opportunities for student response and engagement.
