Lessons Learned

  • Maltreatment of youth, including those with disabilities, impacts all of life’s domains, including psychosocial, psychosomatic, behavioral, social, and academic.
  • Youth with disabilities are disproportionately involved within the bullying dynamic, including experiencing higher rates of victimization.
  • Social and communication skill deficits are two of the strongest predictors of bullying involvement, and should be considered when designing and implementing bullying prevention programming.
