Temporary Federal Funding Freeze Rescinded; Underlying Goals Remain

This week, the Trump-Vance Administration issued a memo to agencies to “temporarily pause all activities related to obligation or disbursement of federal aid…” to afford time to review all current agreements and ensure compliance with recent Executive Orders. While any new Administration reviews existing federal grant and aid agreements, pausing funding during the review is unprecedented. After a judge issued a temporary stay, the Administration withdrew the directive to pause funding. However, the underlying review of programs to ensure compliance with Executive Orders remains.
