Save the Date! Special Education Legislative Summit July 9-12, 2023

SELS 2022 group in front of capital

The Special Education Legislative Summit (SELS) is an opportunity for educators from across the country to make a difference by advocating for change with Members of Congress. This engaging event is co-hosted by CEC and the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE).

In addition to learning about key policy concerns for the field, such as mental health, educator shortage, and funding, participants receive training on how to advocate and make their voices heard. The three-day event culminates with Hill visits with Members of Congress where you can share your story and the story of educators across the country.

"The summit created a community of educators who are extremely passionate about advocating for individuals with disabilities which allowed us all to connect  and learn from one another. I met administrators, coordinators, presidents of organizations from all across the US and parts of Canada. SELS was a great place for educators to collaborate and help each other with what they may be facing in their district. " Sean Phelan, writes in their SET blog entry "Advocate's Dream" on their experience at SELS 2022.

Come together and join your fellow special educators to tell Congress to prioritize education funding, special educator shortages, and mental health. Register today!
