President Biden’s Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Expected to Be Released to Congress on March 28
Congress is expecting to receive President Biden’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 budget proposal on March 28, officially kicking off appropriations work for the coming fiscal year. This comes on the heels of the recent FY 2022 omnibus, which was signed into law last week nearly halfway through FY 2022.
President Biden held off on releasing the FY 2023 budget in February, the typical timeline for an Administration to send their proposal to Congress, opting to wait for FY 2022 to be finalized. The release of the President’s budget symbolizes the official launch of the budget and appropriations process.
Congress’s delay on FY 2022, and the subsequent delay of the President’s budget, will result in a condensed time frame for Congress to complete action on FY 2023 before its October 1 deadline, when the fiscal year officially begins.
CEC will be analyzing the President’s budget to see how it will support infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and/or gifts and talents.
CEC reported on the funding levels for FY 2022 last week.
