Prepare to Celebrate Educators During Teacher Appreciation Week 2023
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8-12, 2023 and Principal Appreciation Day is May 1, 2023. Exceptional education teachers, paraeducators, and principals work hard day in and day out to provide the best education and care for exceptional children. Whether you’re a student, parent, caregiver, paraeducator, teacher, or administrator, now is the time of year to give an especially big thanks to the special educators in your life.
Let’s come together to celebrate special education professionals! They deserve to know we care. The Council for Exceptional Children has multiple opportunities for you to nominate an educator in your life (or yourself!) for acknowledgement and prizes.
Teacher Appreciation Opportunities
What makes your special education teacher a rock star?
Send us a short video about what makes a special education teacher in your life great, and we'll spotlight and celebrate them during Teacher Appreciation Week! We’ll even send them something special just for being awesome.
Videos due by April 21, 2023.
Win lunch for a special education teacher or department
Do you know an incredible special educator or special education department? Do they deserve lunch on CEC? Tell us what makes them great for a chance to win lunch for them during Teacher Appreciation Week! Submissions should be 500 words or less. Make sure to include their name(s), email address, and what school they're associated with. Email your response to cschwartz@exceptionalchildren.org and we'll select five winners, and send them lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week. Yes, teachers, you may nominate your own department!

Principal Appreciation Opportunity
Teachers and paraeducators: send us a story about the principals and/or assistant principals in your life - something great they've done to help you, the students, or your community. We'll share their contributions and thank them ourselves. Plus, any individual nominated who isn't already a CEC member will get a free year of CEC membership!
