OCR Issues Four Fact Sheets to Aid Students with Mental Health Disabilities
Continuing its responsibility to help educational stakeholders to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) has issued fact sheets that address the needs of students with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and bipolar disorder.
Part of a larger series on specific medical conditions that qualify for legal protection, OCR reminds schools and districts that they must treat students with these medical conditions as they would any other, “free from discrimination, and the obligation to provide students with mental health disabilities with the modifications, supports, and services the students need to have equal access to their education.”
Fact sheets:
Anxiety Disorders | Depression | Eating Disorders | Bipolar Disorder
