The Learning Policy Institute (LPI) has released a table of estimated state distributions of the $54 billion in new emergency funding through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). ESSER was established through the CARES Act to address school needs during the pandemic, and the infusion of additional funds was approved as part of the $900 billion COVID-relief package that passed in late December.

The ESSER funds will be distributed to states based on a formula similar to the Title I formula of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

The estimates are based on the most recently available enrollment data from the National Center for Educational Statistics.
