In a new blog series, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) will feature interviews with students participating in Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) supported doctoral-level programs and research projects funded by the National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER). OSEP Scholars receive financial support for tuition, fees, health insurance, books, supplies, and research-related expenses in exchange for future service to the field. Additionally, faculty can hire doctoral students for research projects funded by the National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) through IES grants, offering further research experience opportunities. OSEP Scholars may also gain research experience by working on NCSER-funded projects, benefiting from both funding sources and mentorship from seasoned researchers. The goal of the blog posts is to demonstrate how OSEP and NCSER efforts are complimentary by elevating stories from the field.
