Glenna Gallo Nominated to Lead OSERS
On Friday afternoon, President Biden announced the nomination of Glenna Gallo to serve as Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) at the U.S. Department of Education.
With more than 25 years in the field of special education, Gallo currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education in Washington state. In that role, she has prioritized increased funding for special education and the implementation of statewide inclusionary practices for students with disabilities. She has also served twice as the president of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE), which praised her nomination this afternoon as “an exceptional choice.”
Gallo will need to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to officially serve in the Assistant Secretary role.
