Department of Education Approves All States’ Plans for American Rescue Plan ESSER Funds

This week, the U.S. Department of Education announced that every state education agency’s plans for the use of American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School funds were approved before the end of 2021.
With these final approvals, the Department has now distributed a final sum of $122 billion to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. These funds have and will continue to help states and local school districts keep schools open while the pandemic evolves, helping to pay for infrastructure upgrades, tutoring and academic support, personnel and staffing, testing, and more.
The Department is encouraging state and local school districts to use their funds in a timely fashion in to rectify the disproportionate and harmful impacts of the pandemic, including the Omicron variant.
