Department of Education Announces Series of New Appointments Including Deputy Director of OSERS
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Education announced more political appointees to key positions within the Department. Among the appointees featured in the announcement is Katy Neas to be Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS).
Neas most recently worked as senior vice president of public affairs at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) overseeing the organization’s federal and state government public policy, regulatory affairs, grassroots and political action efforts, and more. Prior to working at APTA. Neas spent 23 years at Easterseals, where she served on the senior management team, led federal and state government relations advocacy, and more. While at Easter Seals, Neas served as co-chair of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities Education Task Force, of which CEC is a member.
Neas began her career on the Senate Subcommittee on Disability Policy during the development and enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
