Graph of NAEP 2021 data collection milestones

Last week, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) announced the administration of the National Assessment of Educational Progress 2021 School Survey. This survey follows President Biden’s Executive Order issued on January 21st mandating a collection of data surrounding COVID-19’s impact on the status of the educational system.

Data are to be disaggregated by demographics, including students with disabilities. The survey targets 3,500 schools and will aim to collect information monthly through June on mode of instruction, enrollment in instructional mode by demographics, attendance rates for instructional modes by demographics, and more.

IES hopes this survey’s data will provide key data to understand educational outcomes across the nation as the pandemic continues.
