Dawn Rowe Named Academic Editor of CEC TEACHING Exceptional Children Journal

Dawn Roe

Arlington, Va. ― Beginning in July 2019, the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) will welcome Dawn Rowe, Ph.D., as the new academic editor for its research-to-practice journal, TEACHING Exceptional Children (TEC).

A member of CEC and the CEC Division of Career Development and Transition, Rowe was selected following a nationwide search and brings strong experience as an author, editor, and reviewer in the field.

In addition to transitioning to the role of associate professor for Clemmer College at East Tennessee State University in May, Dawn serves as a consulting editor for Career Development and Transition for Exceptional Individuals, a guest reviewer for School Psychology Quarterly, and a member of the editorial board for Intervention in School and Clinic and the Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation. Most recently, she acted as guest editor of the “Transition in the 21st Century” issue of TEACHING Exceptional Children and other scholarly publications.

“I am pleased to welcome Dawn to our team,” said CEC Executive Director Alexander T. Graham. “She joins us at a key time as we look to strengthen TEC content to support teachers and the students they serve. This journal is an important resource where leading research in special education translates to effective practice for all educators and administrators.”

Rowe explained, “I am delighted to have this opportunity to contribute to the field of special education. I view TEC as an important tool to provide teachers of exceptional children with practical applications of evidence-based practices that can help them do their jobs better.”

Rowe succeeds Kristin Sayeski, Ph.D., who has edited TEC since 2014.
