Coalition for Teaching Quality Seeks Greater Investments in Fiscal Year 2026

On Tuesday, the Coalition for Teaching Quality (CTQ), co-chaired by CEC, sent a letter to the Office of Management and Budget, as well as other key stakeholders who provide input on the annual President’s budget request, urging greater investments in the federal programs that support the attraction, preparation, and retention of educators.

CTQ represents national civil rights, disability, parent, student, community, and education organizations advocating to ensure all students have access to well-prepared and effective teachers and school leaders.

Nearly 50 members of the Coalition signed onto the letter, which urges greater investments in personnel preparation under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, improved workforce diversity through the Hawkins Centers of Excellence, and comprehensive preparation through the Teacher Quality Partnerships grants program. It also calls for lowering barriers to entry into the profession by addressing the cost of preparation programs, increasing federal funding for teacher professional development, and more.
