CEC Prepares for Changes in New Administration
Over the last 10 days, we have heard from many CEC members and begun to strategize about the presidential transition and the incoming 119th Congress. As with any new Administration and Congress, we anticipate changes that could impact infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and the professionals who serve them, and we remain steadfastly committed to influencing those decisions through CEC’s policy and advocacy work.
As potential changes are announced, CEC’s advocacy pillars will not change. We will continue to play a leading voice in the push to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and keep public funds in public education, to advocate for policies that support and expand the special educator pipeline, improve mental health conditions, and support individuals with disabilities in the education system. With some races still too close to call and nominations for key political positions, including Secretary of Education, yet to be announced, we will continue to monitor and update our members through Policy Insider as developments unfold.
We go to work each day because we believe in and are honored to carry out the mission of CEC, regardless of who holds political office. We will continue to work with that mission at the core of what we do, and we will continue to influence policymakers through advocacy that brings forward the expertise of our members and our commitment to infants, toddlers, children and youth, with disabilities and the professionals who serve them.
Your membership in and support of CEC provide you both a network of professionals who share your passion and a professional staff working on your behalf in Washington D.C. We can’t do the work without you, and we look forward to partnering with you to continue supporting individuals with disabilities.
