Member Services Representative – Part Time

Position Summary: The Member Services Representative is a primary point of contact for all CEC members and customers, providing reliable, direct service for CEC products, programs, and services allowing members and customers to transact business, receive information, and provide feedback to CEC. Although not required, we are especially interested in hiring someone with a background in education who understands the distinct needs of special educators who comprise our membership.

This position is part-time (20 hours per week) and fully remote. Hours: Afternoon or Evening Preferred.

Salary: *$15.00 per hour (*if candidate is located in state where minimum wage is higher than $15.00, the salary will be updated accordingly.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

  • Answers telephone calls through the Member Services toll-free line; receives, researches, and responds to customer inquiries and requests regarding membership, conventions and workshops, publications and products;
  • Actively listening to members and identifying their needs;
  • Recommending and cross-selling products and services to members and potential members as well as taking publication orders, convention and event registrations, and membership applications over the telephone and via mail, fax and e-mail utilizing the NOAH/Aarwin database;
  • Negotiates with customers to resolve problems, follows up on customer inquiries and researches issues to assure satisfactory completion;
  • Processes name change requests, address change requests, chapter affiliation requests, invoices and claims;
  • Processes voice mail messages, and e-mail and fax communications.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Education/Experience: High school diploma, ability to problem-solve and satisfactorily resolve customer complaints; ability to flexibly respond to changing needs and priorities of the service area and the organization as a whole;

Reasoning Ability: Creative ability and resourceful problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task and adapt to changing needs and priorities.

Math Ability: Frequent use of general math concepts to manage budgets, analyze membership data and response/campaign success.

Language Ability: Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with strong editing skills and competence in writing in a variety of forms.

Computer Skills:  Experience working within an association management system – iMIS/NOAH/Aarwin strongly preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Knowledge of Monday Work Management a plus.
