In line with President Biden’s January Executive Order, the U.S. Department of Education is proceeding with the development of the Safer Schools and Campuses Best Practices Clearinghouse, which will enable stakeholders to share lessons learned and best practices for learning during the pandemic.

Accordingly, the Department of Education has released a request for information, asking stakeholders to share their experiences that ED will consider in the Clearinghouse’s formulation. The Department will receive submissions via email until September 2021. The goal of the resource is to share valuable knowledge for reducing inequities in schooling and enhancing operations as schools reopen.

Specifically, the Department is asking for information on three key topics: safe and healthy environments; providing holistic support to students, including mental and physical support; teacher, faculty, and staff well-being; and professional development. Examples of desired submissions include fact sheets, step-by-step guidance, policies, and sample agreements among partners, videos, and more.
