Retrieval practice is a powerful tool that improves learning, retention, and transfer of academic content. This article describes how to implement several retrieval practice in several formats, including flashcard practice, response card practice, weekly quizzes, and mock tests. Practice recommendations include free, online resources and instructional supports designed to address the needs of students with learning disabilities. Examples are illustrated within the context of an inclusive high school Spanish 1 course. NOTE: This manuscript was submitted in consideration for a special issue on the role of practice--repeated engagement in an activity for the purpose of gaining proficiency--within instruction.
