Why I Serve on the Leadership Development Committee

Cassie Frost

As an assistive technology specialist and former special education teacher, I pursued a position on the Leadership Development Committee (LDC) as I felt that those roles, and former years as a behavior specialist, offered me a unique perspective on the experiences of students and teachers in our school systems. I feel strongly that there are many leaders in today’s classrooms who are looking for an opportunity to share and connect to improve the educational system. I feel that being part of a committee that helps identify, recruit, and support strong leaders to bring into CEC board and volunteer positions is an essential step in continuing CEC’s commitment to providing support for educators and in turn, improving the educational experience of our students. Throughout my time as an LDC committee member, I have found myself surrounded by colleagues who share my passion for improving the experience of all teachers and students. I have valued the opportunity to collaborate with these peers to recruit and support new volunteers and board members who will lead CEC forward in the mission of supporting educational professionals who work with individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents.
