OSEP seeks feedback by September 30, 2022

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) seeks input about how to improve its determination process for how well states meet their IDEA requirements. To accomplish this, OSEP has used a results driven accountability system (RDA) that is based on seven core principles. Currently, four levels of determination exist: Meets, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention, and Needs Substantive Intervention. The metrics are used to examine compliance as well as student outcomes. To improve its determinations, the US Department of Education (ED) is specifically interested in innovative suggestions for promoting equity. If interested in providing feedback, email SPPAPR@ed.gov and include “Determinations Feedback” in the subject line. Comments are due by September 30, 2022.
