Raise the Bar Metrics Show Improvement

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has updated its Raise the Bar: Eliminate the Educator Shortage webpage to reflect the improvements made in educator salaries and personnel shortages. Strategies implemented with American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds have led to increases in student support services such as social workers and nurses. While progress has been made, much work remains. Variations in conditions from state to state and school to school reveal uneven progress. Interactive recovery maps on the Raise the Bar webpage allow users to examine state level data and to make state to state comparisons. The Department invites corrections to “Teacher Compensation 2022-2023,” the state-level action map, asking that if users know of states whose actions have not been recognized with a star to please contact the Raise the Bar initiative.
