Wellness for Educators
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the state of Maine, but we serve educators, educational organizations, schools, districts, and others worldwide!
We started planning for Wellness for Educators in 2018 after years of witnessing and personally experiencing educator burnout. Our team wanted to bring small wellness strategies from a variety of research-based disciplines that help with stress relief and healing trauma. With every group we work with, we offer a choose your own adventure approach to personalize the experience.
Our passion for creating this organization was informed by our own experiences with Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES and the healing journey that we have taken and continue to take. Through somatic or mind-body-psyche approaches, including but not limited to yoga, Qigong, meditation, mindfulness, and more, the tissues that hold prolonged stress and traumatic experiences, such as ACES, have the potential to be healed.
Built on this foundation, our organization provides strategies through educator professional learning to empower educators to work through and with their own trauma, secondary traumatic stress, emotions, and stress, to heal and be there for their learners, their colleagues, and their own families and friends, as well as to help them feel empowered to heal themselves. We offer a wide array of professional learning opportunities, such as book studies, webinars & podcast, personalized workshops, conferences, wellness circles, live events, microcourses, and recorded classes.
We also house a free Wellness Library that is filled with short video-, audio-, and text-based guidance on wellness strategies from the disciplines of yoga, mindfulness, meditation, Qigong, and more, and we are continuously adding to the library.
We have badging that we do with Partner organizations who offer a service, as well as ways for Organizations, Schools, Districts, and states to work with us directly. We have an Ambassador badge that is tied to our Friends of Wellness for Educators program that is currently in development!
We love to collaborate, so if you have some ideas you’d like to bring to us, please don’t hesitate to be in touch!
Our Wellness Library is a free online resource filled with short video-, audio-, and text-based wellness strategies from the disciplines of yoga, mindfulness, meditation, Qigong, and more. New content is added regularly.
These short, self-care strategies can give you regular practices that you can use personally and share with others, including your fellow educators, learners, family, and friends.
The strategies are organized by Discipline (yoga, mindfulness, meditation, Qigong, etc), Yoga Style (Yin, Restorative, Hatha, etc), Areas to Fill My Cup (strength, stability, courage, etc), and Emotional Support.
We offer self-paced microcourses online that you can enroll in for CEUs. The microcourses are on different topics, and you can see the most recent offerings on our website. We also offer Book Studies with opportunities for CEUs. Book studies are open to individuals as well as cohort-based for organizations (such as schools, districts, universities, colleges, professional education organizations, non-profits, for-profits). Book studies are typically done online but can be incorporated in a workshop-based event with an organization if that’s desired. Please contact us if your organization is interested in us hosting a cohort-based book study!
We offer personalized workshops from a number of different disciplines, including but not limited to yoga, meditation, mindfulness, Qigong, art, music, dance, trauma, Tai Chi, and more around the world. These workshops can be delivered online, face-to-face, or a mix of the two, and can be anywhere in length from an hour, half days, to multiple days, specifically designed for your program’s needs. CEUs are also available. Please contact us if you’re interested in scheduling us to offer workshops. We also offer workshops throughout the year that are designed by educators.
