Ms. Sturdivant is also the mother of a 12-year-old son who is on the Autism spectrum. After facing challenges finding appropriate providers to meet the needs of her family, she founded Living Autism Out Loud (LAOL). Living Autism Out Loud, LLC (LAOL) was founded with the goal of decreasing and eventually eliminating cultural barriers that Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) parents face when accessing services and supports for their children with Autism and/or Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. By including the "parent voice" in professional supports and services, LAOL focuses on improving family engagement with provider organizations, human service agencies and educational institutions through culturally responsive trainings, presentations, and panel discussions.
