Messiah University's Graduate Program in Education is designed to develop effective and compassionate educators who are ready to work with students, their families and other educational professionals. Our program is grounded in Christian faith and values, and we believe that all students deserve a quality education. Faculty are experienced educators and accomplished scholars who encourage and mentor students in their faith and career.

The majority of Messiah University’s courses are online, so you are free to pursue your career and degree at the same time. Graduate program applications are accepted year-round, and there are program entry points throughout the year.

M.Ed. degree tracks
Graduate students seeking to advance their careers in special education can earn an M.Ed. in special education (with or without teaching certification). Messiah students can also earn an M.Ed. with a focus on curriculum and instruction; teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL); teaching language and content; or online instruction. Messiah offers M.Ed. options with initial teaching certification (PK-4, 7-12, PK-12 and special education PK-12). The timeframe for degree completion is two to six years.

Nondegree options
Messiah’s program has graduate certificates and PDE endorsements and certifications, including teaching certification in grades PK-4, 7-12, PK-12 and special education PK-12. Other focus areas include exceptional children and youth, social emotional and behavioral wellness, TESOL, online instruction, skills for teacher leaders, STEM and English as a second language. Some certificates can be completed in less than a year.
