OSERS Releases New Q&A on Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities and Their Families

This morning, the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) released two new resources to support states in meeting the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. The Q&A documents are part of ED’s "Return to School Roadmap Series" aimed at addressing issues that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first Q&A is titled "Child Find, Referral and Eligibility under Part C of the IDEA," and the second is "Early Intervention Services for Infants and Toddlers and their Families under Part C of the IDEA." The documents address questions about meeting timelines, ensuring implementation of initial evaluation and reevaluation procedures, determining eligibility for early intervention, special education and related services, and providing early intervention services and special education and related services.
