OSEP Releases Fast Facts on Children with Disabilities Aged 3-5

OSEP fast fact sheet

Last week, the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) published a fast fact sheet focused on children with disabilities aged 3-5 served under Part B, section 619 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The data presented is from the 12 data collections authorized under IDEA section 618 for the 2018-2019 school year. The fact sheet highlights several findings, including that male children were more likely to be served than females, and the majority of children were identified with a developmental delay or speech or language impairment as their primary disability.

The sheet will be updated as an ongoing effort to provide effective visual representations of data collected under section 618.
