The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) recently published a series of graphics and facts about personnel under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Personnel under Part B are those who are employed or contracted to work with children with disabilities aged 3 through 21.

OSEP’s fast facts sheet includes state-by-state data on the number of personnel within categories including special education teachers, specialized instructional support personnel, and special education paraprofessionals; detailed state-by-state breakdowns of types of personnel, ranging from audiologists to social workers; and a map of the United States showing the number of children per special education teacher in each state for the 2018-2019 school year.
