Office for Civil Rights Delivers Annual Report to Congress

This week, the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office for Civil Rights published its annual report for fiscal year 2020. The report is sent to the Secretary of Education, the President, and Congress each year, and describes policy priorities and achievements for the fiscal year. The report also highlights what the Office deems to be milestones of the outgoing Trump Administration that have helped strengthen civil rights enforcement.

In a press release published by ED, former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is lauded for her dedication to the enforcement of students’ civil rights. According to the report, notable achievements under the Trump administration include a large number of complaint resolutions and several proactive investigations initiated and resolved.
